Before we get started…
Welcome! Now that you’ve set up your account on Trainerize, let’s go over a few more tools and guidelines that will help you succeed and make sure we get you started on the right foot.
These will answer a lot of FAQs you may have. Please read throughly. If you still have any questions or concerns, reach out to me on Trainerize and I’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
Baseline Check-in
It's important to establish where you're at now not only so I have the details I need to customize your plan, but also so that we can accurately assess your progress at the end of your first week, and each week thereafter. This includes throughly filling out the intake form, as well as uploading your first pics and stats (weight and a few key measurement) inside Trainerize. Please get these uploaded asap.
How To Check-in
Updating your pics/stats is a part of your weekly check-in and will be scheduled on your digital calendar within the app (tap the calendar icon at the bottom of your screen to see and scroll through your full week).
Simply tap with your finger to enter your stats and upload pics from your phone's album. Please do not use “selfie-mode” as it doesn’t allow us to see your full form. I recommend either getting someone to help take pics for you, or setting up your camera on video and then holding the front, side and back poses you need to screenshot and upload.
The best time to take your updates is first thing in the morning, after you go to the bathroom and before you eat/drink anything. If possible, always in the same two-piece (or fitted gym attire if you're not comfortable in a swimsuit - just something so you can see the shape of your body), in the same spot/lighting each time for continuity.
Don't sweat it if these are not your best angles! These are simply basic shots to chart your progress and helpful for me to evaluate shifts in body composition since I don't get to see you in person.
Weight should be entered in pounds. Measurements should be entered in inches. Please help your coach out and convert these if you must, for your weekly check-ins.
For measurements, you DO NOT need to fill in everything on the chart. I am only looking at your waist measurement (smallest point above your belly button), hips (widest point), left bicep (flexed) and upper left thigh (relaxed).
All three of these factors show a different aspect of your progress for a more complete assessment. Please be through. The more you share, the more I can help you.
Weekly Assessment
You can expect your check-ins to be scheduled on the same day each week, due before 10am pst. Please let me know if something comes up and we need to adjust your check-in day for that week.
I am reasonable and happy to accommodate you with a 24hr courtesy notice. However, if you check-in late without proper notice, you forego your feedback until the following week.
You can also expect me to send you your video feedback later that same-day, before 7:00pm pst. The only time this changes is if I happen to be traveling that day. In which case you'll receive a lengthy text message from me here, but this is rare.
Communication
Aside from your weekly check-in day, you can reach out to me on the Trainerize app anytime between 9am-5pm pst Monday-Friday. There is both text and voice messaging - use whichever you prefer.
No question is too small, or “dumb.” You’re learning a new process. Having questions or concerns is totally normal. I am here to teach and support you, and I care about you.
We welcome sharing wins here too! I love hearing about a mindset obstacle you overcame, a new PR, or how great you felt in your favorite jeans on date night. Don’t be shy!
I do reserve holidays, weekends and evenings for my family. Please keep this in mind if you send a message after hours. Otherwise, I will always reply to you within the day.
A Good Coaching Relationship Requires Team Effort
As your coach, I am here not only to provide you with a plan, but also to help ensure you're never left hanging on your plan. However, I am not a mind reader.
If you're struggling, or something is amiss, please let me know. I'm not just your coach, I'm your biggest cheerleader and I want you to succeed.
Let's do this!
